Fix Bad Credit Report – 3 Golden Rules For Fast Credit Repair

Irena Bocheva asked:

Is your credit score far from perfect? Are you planning on a major purchase or loan but fear being rejected by creditors? Don’t worry. More than 30 million Americans are in the same boat. According to the general myth, there is one sure way to fix bad credit report-time, financial effort, careful budget planning and discipline. This formula has proven to bring a gradual credit score increase. The paradox here lies in the fact that most of us need that nice house, luxury car, personal or business loan NOW, not later. Luckily, there are some less known secrets and shortcuts that can help you raise your credit in a shorter period of time.

Here are 3 rules you have to keep in mind if you want a fast credit repair:

1 Where are you?Where do you have to be?

The fist thing you have to figure out is where do you stand on the credit scale and where do you have to be. The Fico score places you somewhere on the credit scale between 300 and 850. This three digit number that the credit bureaus assign to you determines if you will get approved for a loan and if you will have to pay thousand of dollars in high interest. And not only that -the score is increasingly used by employers, landlords, insurers in order to evaluate applicants. Once you know where you stand, you have to figure out where you need to be. Different lenders have different criteria. A 700 score can be enough for one creditor to give you the most favorable loan. Yet it might be insufficient score for another lender. Do you need to raise your score with 10, 20, 50, 100, 200 points? This is vital information if you want to come up with a viable course of action.

2 The newer the debt, the bigger the influence on credit score.

In general the most recent credit history has the biggest influence on the overall FICO score. The older the negative item, the less impact it has. Credit is time sensitive and you have to keep that in mind when you embark on your credit repair program. Taking care of current late payments or bringing down current credit card balances to a healthy balance/ credit ratio will produce dramatic change in your score.

3 “paid ” vs “deleted” status.

Contrary to what many people think, a paid collection is still considered a negative item on your credit report. In other words, it still impacts your score negatively. “Deleted”collection on the other hand will instantly raise your score with more than 30 points. How do you delete a collection? You simply negotiate with the collection agency and promise to pay the settlement amount ONLY if they delete the item from your record. In a similar fashion, you can send a “goodwill” letter to your creditor explaining the circumstances surrounding your late payment and ask them to remove it from your account. A little diplomacy can really work miracles with your credit score.

These are just some of the things you have to keep in mind if you want to fix bad credit report. There are many other credit secrets that can help you boost your credit in no time. You’ll be surprised to find out how easy credit repair is once you start thinking outside the box.

How to Fix Your Credit on a Budget

Amos Amsterdam asked:

In this article we are going to take a quick look at how you can fix your credit on a budget. Nothing is worse than having to spend a lot of money on credit restoration when your finances are already a mess. Sort of hypocritical, right? If your credit has taken a major league nose dive, the very LAST thing you need to be doing is coughing out large cash to someone else to fix what you can easily do for free. Here are some simple pointers to get yourself on the right side of the street, and quick!

Organization is your Friend.

Nothing helps to illuminate derogatory items on your credit report quicker than having a good system for organizing and filtering the reports, and follow ups. Simply stated, create a simple system that you can follow, that helps, aids and guides you in the process of challenging the items that are MOST punitive and the highest priority, up front – and then work your way down the ladder.

The Devil is in the Details

It always amazes me how many people completely miss the EASY pickings when it comes to credit repair. So many things on your report are wrong – and it’s easy to find them! Remember, you have the right to an error free, accurate credit report according to the United States Congress, so ANYTHING that is potentially inaccurate, in my ( and many other) opinions is fair game to challenge, if you believe it is incorrect. Names, dates, balances, etc – this stuff is usually wrong to some varying degree, even if the underlying debt really remains unpaid.

Persistence is Paramount.

Of course if you are fixing your credit by yourself – you are going to NEED to follow up, and do it often. If you don’t have the desire to keep the ball rolling up the hill, you shoudn’t attempt your own repair. It’s a time consuming and occasionally challenging process, you need the guts and gumption to see it through to the end to get optimal results.

The Best Way to Fix My Credit

Tony Banks asked:

Fixing your credit is possible despite the fact that most people don’t know believe this. No two reports are identical so the approach to fix each report is different but all are broken into two main strategies to repair credit.

Defensive Repair- The first strategy would be considered as defensive, with this part of the repair strategy you will work to improve your credit score by not allowing any more negative factors impact your report.

You will have to catch up on any late accounts, negotiate collection accounts to be deleted if a settlement is reached, and obtain new accounts if possible to start showing good entries on your report. You should do anything you can to stop any more negatives from reaching your rating.

Offensive Repair- With an offensive strategy you will work hard to have accounts that are negative deleted from your account. Negative accounts that are very old should be disputed so they can be removed, accounts that have reached their mature date need to be deleted according to the credit laws and wrong information needs to be corrected.

The only way the offensive strategy will work is by understanding the laws that govern your credit, the credit reporting agencies must abide by these laws but it is important that you know how to challenge them when working on your credit rating.

A good credit repair kit will teach you everything you need to know about the laws that can help you fix your credit rating and increasing.

You Can Fix Your Credit Report By Yourself

Robert Coghill asked:

If you have a normal body temperature between 98 and 99 degrees Fahrenheit, and have reasonably good eyesight and hearing, I know that you have been assaulted with advertisements for credit repair on TV, in newspapers, in magazines, with fliers in your mailbox, and all over the Internet. Have you ever stopped to think who is paying for all that overwhelming advertising? You are…if you’ve responded and signed up to any of the companies promising you, on virtual bended knee, that they are the only company known to mankind that can help you repair your credit.

Let’s assume for the sake of argument that you have the good sense that God gave you. Let’s also assume that you have not been tempted to march forward and turn your wallet or purse over to the multitude of credit repair scammers lurking in the bushes. Walk away really fast from the ones that ask for money up front before they do a thing.

Better yet, walk away from all of them until you read the few paragraphs below.

You probably have a clue that the three credit companies have some kind of weird information in their records. You know this, because you were unable to finance that 1993 Buick at ABC Motors last week. Your credit cards are not maxed out. The check that got lost in the mail when you paid the department store bill was cleared up months ago with the store. The “aha moment” just revealed itself. Somehow, the credit companies never were notified that you fixed your debt to the store.

Our culture is proud of do-it-yourselfers. After all, you wash your own car, you change the light bulbs when they burn out, and occasionally you paint a room or two. A first step might possibly be to see what you can do to help yourself

Now you might ask, how do you start?

Before you start, please memorize the following important information. (1) You cannot legally remove accurate negative information from a credit report. (2) You may personally ask for an investigation of an item in your file that you dispute as inaccurate, and there is no charge for this investigation by the credit companies.

The nationwide consumer reporting companies are Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. They generate your report on information they receive from your creditors. Remember, that they do not verify if the information is correct or incorrect.

You are entitled to a free report from each of the companies once every 12 months. If you want a report more often than once per year, you will be charged $9.50 for each report.

When you receive the reports, look for inaccurate items only. Remember you cannot change the accurate items, even if they are negative.

I encourage you to try the do-it-yourself method. If you do it correctly, you will find that your credit record will be restored and you will feel really good about yourself. Then you will be able to go back to ABC Motors and confidently step up to a 1994 Buick.
