Just found out someone placed a judgment on my credit report while our case is pending? how can I fix this?

yg asked:

Its a small claims court matter. Our court date has not been set yet, however it is on our credit report as a judgement, has same docket # and all. It the only court case I have even been involved in. Since I first asked the question, I have called the court and they state NO Judgment has been rendered, they have no idea how this could have happened. They asked we forward a copy of that portion of our credit report and they will investigate for fraud. Thanks for the replies.

How do you find a credible credit lawyer?

Charlie L asked:

I understand that a credit lawyer can help ease certain “injustices” on your credit report. How would you go about finding a credible local lawyer to employ, other than opening the phone book, which, obviously, would be a crapshoot? Is there, perhaps, some sort of National Credit Lawyers Association that I can reference for local lawyers? I’m wary of these “We fix your credit” advertisements, and assume they’re all scams.

A debt collection agency mistakenly placed a legal judgment on my credit report – help?

Tom G asked:

A debt collection agency mistakenly placed a legal judgment on my credit report. I have a son with the same name that used to live at the same address and the judgment properly belongs on his credit, not mine. What can I do to fix this?
What law(s) have they broken?
What is my best recourse or course of action at this point? Please do not tell me to contact an attorney, because I intend to, but right now I am just trying to educate myself on the matter.

Thanks!

Joe
